Weixian Pear Planting Area--Hebei

Wei Xian is located at the southern end of Hebei Province, Pear in Wei Xian is a traditional industry, there had a large-scale cultivation at as early as the Northern Song Dynasty, which has a more than one thousand years of history, Gusi Xie,a well-known scientist during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, make a detail description on the pear cultivation of Wei Xian in his medical book“Qi Min Yao Shu”.

Wei Xian pear is well-known by the world for its big body, thin skin, small core, low residue, moderate sweet and sour, crispy and tasty, and it is exported to Southeast Asia, Europe, and other more than a dozen of countries and regions. In 1995 and 2001, Wei Xian pear was named "Hometown of Chinese Pear" twice by national related departments. In recent years, Weixian developed the pear brand, "Weizhou Pear", because its clean surface, pollution-free and high quality, it becomes a favorite food.

In 2001, Wei Xian was identified as a high-quality pear producing base by Hebei Province. In 2004, Weixian has a Pear planting area of 150,000 mu, annual output is 200,000 tons, including 20,000 mu through the provincial pollution-free certification.
