Dongting Lake fishing industry hold a advantage position among the inland fishing industry in China, and is the "Cradle" of Chinese freshwater fishing industry. in 2008, in Dongting Lake, the total output of aquatic products reached 1.3 million tons, the fishery output value was over RMB 12 billion yuan, respectively accounted for 65% and 77% of the province's.
