Weifang Chicken Raising Area--Shandong

Weifang, located in Shandong province, is China’s manufacturing hub of chicken product, annual output of chicken 300 million, producing more than half of the chicken product in China.

Its export of chicken accounts for over one-tenth of that of country. Weifang is China’s first standardized stock raising base and so far it has built 13,000 standard henhouses.

Some 80 percent of the local poultry raising has been standardized, including 100 percent of chickens bred for meat and 90 percent of egg layers.In 2002, Weifang launched the pilot project to explore new poultry raising techniques to integrate with international practice. So far a total of 153 people have qualified as veterinarians after passing the examination.
