(SN) Tongchuan Mining Area

General Situation
Tongchuan Mining Area is located in Tongchuan city in central Shaanxi province, with an area of 1,268 sq. km. It is situated in the west end of Weibei Coalfield, connecting Pubai Mining Area in the east, taking coal seam outcrop as the south boundary. Prediction areas are found in the north and west parts.

Tongchuan Mining Area is mainly located in hilly area, with the highest altitude of 1,339m in Juntailing. The traffic is convenient with the special railway, Xiantong (Xianyang-Tongchuan) Railway, connecting all the mines in the area. The water sources include: Wangjiahe water supply site (1500 cubic meters per day), Tongchuan Water Plant (7000 cubic meters per day), Hongtuzhen water supply site (6000 cubic meters), Dongwangcun water supply site (2500 cubic meters per day), and Linnie Reservoir in Baishui County (200 thousand cubic meters). The power sources are: Yanliang Substation (double-loop, 110KV.LGJ-120), and Tongchuan Substation in Tongchuan Mining Area (110/35/6KV). It is sub-tropical continental climate with annual mean temperature of 10.6℃, and extreme maximum and minimum temperatures 37.7 ℃, and -18.2℃, respectively. The annual rainfall is 610 mm with historical maximum of 113.6 mm. The frozen soil depth is 0.54m in maximum.

Coal Resources
In Carboniferous Permian coal-bearing strata, there are 7 seams (Seam 4#-10#) of Upper Carboniferous System, with Seam 5# and 10# being main mineable seams; 3 seams (Seam 1# to 3#) of Lower Permian System, but none is mineable. Lean coal and mergre coal are the main types of coal, in addition to some had coking coal, featuring medium-high ash, high sulfur and medium heating value.
