Southeast Gas Field, located in the Sichuan Basin and composing of 110 gas fields and 14 oilfields, is China's first 10 million-ton grade oil province chiefly through gas production, and is also one of the four major gas provinces in China. Its gas production accounts for about 20% of the nation's total.
The resource reserve of Southeast Gas Field has entered a positive cycle, with a reserve-production ratio of 27.5:1, a natural gas resource discovery ratio of 19.34%, and a proven ratio of 11.72%. In 2008, 14.83 billion cubic meters of natural gas was produced, accounting for 26.8% of CNPC's total domestic gas production.
