Ningde Large Yellow Croaker Breeding Base--Fujian

Located in the northeast of Fujian province, Ningde is commonly called the "Fujian South". Total land area reached 13,400 square kilometers, and ocean surface covered 44,500 square kilometers, its coastline lasts 878 kilometers, shallow beach area amounted 93,400 hectares, accounting for 1/3 of the provincial total.

Ningde is the only Natural Preserve for large yellow croaker, and the largest yellow croaker cultivation base, covering 70% of the total production in China. The yellow croaker is one of the four major kinds of fish in China, with the annual catching volume topping 120,000 tons. The Guanjingyang aquatic center in Ningde is one of China's largest breeding centers for yellow croakers.

In 2008, Fujian Province witnessed an export of 3541.6 tons Ningde large yellow croaker from June to December, up 1.66 times compared with that of the same period in 2007. The export value hit US$18.471 million, 3.57 times as high as 2007’s figure. From January 1 through the end of February in 2009, export hit 843.3 tons, worth US$4.635 million, increased respectively 2.08 times and 2.30 times. The unit price rose to US$4,500-5000 per ton from some US$4000 per tons.

Large Yellow Croaker is popularly named Yellow Croaker. Its meat tastes tender and delicious, and it contains high protein, low cholesterol. It is nourishing and helps to cure anemia. Hence, it becomes the highest grade salt water fish. Large Yellow Croaker of East Fujian is vacuum packaged, high pressurized and sterilized with state-of-art preserving technology to maintain its quality and nutrition. Thus, its color, flavor, mouth-feel and appearance are hardly changed. Besides, it can be stored, carried, sold at ordinary temperature and easy to carry, without the disadvantages of frozen food which is short in shelf life and high in distribution cost.
