Tuha Oil Province

Tuha Oil Province is located in the eastern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Since the discovery of Shanshan Oilfield in 1989, 16 oil and gas fields have been built in the Tuha and Santanghu basins.

In recent years, Tuha Oil Province has witnessed remarkable progress in the exploration of the new series of strata in the Santanghu Basin and the central uplift of the Huoyan Mountain in the Tu-Ha Basin. 3P reserves of 186 million metric tons have been identified in the Santanghu Basin. In 2006, well Ma-17 located in the Santanghu Basin obtained a high-yield oil and gas flow from the lower Permian Kalagang formation, adding 24.37 million metric tons to the probable oil reserves.

In 2008, Tuha Oil Province produced 2.17 million tons of crude oil and 1.51 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
