Songzhuang Prawn Breeding Base--Jiangsu

Songzhuang Town is located in the southeast Ganyu county, Jiangsu province, near Haizhou Bay, and connects with the famous harbour,Lianyungang, with a river. Songzhuang has a prawn breeding area of 57,000 mu, and 40 breeding farms. For the rapid development of marine economy, Songzhuang has received the National top title for prawn breeding for five consecutive years, the annual prawn output is 10,000 tons. In 1999, Songzhuang was named as "special culture village" and "hometown of Chinese prawn breeding", by "Newspaper of Chinese specialty" and the government of Lianyungang city. In 2001, Songzhuang won the title of  "organic food base for marine aquaculture", which was certified by the national environmental protection system.

Songzhuang has 68 enterprises of all types, has formed a system of aquatic product breeding and deep processing. Now, Songzhuang has built an economic and trade district, two industrial parks, export products reaches more than 30 series, over 200 varieties of products are exported to the United States, the Netherlands, Japan and South Korea, etc.
