Shaanxi Shangnan boasts abound natural resources. It has mineral deposits in a large quantity in which exploitable mineral resources are 41 kinds in 127 places. Of the various mineral resources, the most promising ones are: forsterite (with a reserve of 500 million tons), rutile (2 million tons), potassium albite (55 million tons), crystal (one of the four major mineral-rich areas in China), vanadium (7.1 billion tons), as well as gold, Spiegel iron, quartz, garnet and so on.
