Salt Mining in China

China is very rich in salt mine, beside the salt resource in seawater, mine salt is produced in 17 provinces (areas) in whole country. The proved reserves mineral fields amount is 150, total NaCl reserves is 407.5 billion tons.

Qinghai has the most of salt mine reserves which occupied 80% of whole country reserves; the provinces of Sichuan (Chengdu basin, Nanchong basin, etc), Yunnan, Hubei (Yingcheng salt mine), Jiangxi (Zhangshu salt mine, Zhoutian salt mine) take second place. Salt mine types are three kind of rock salt, modern lake salt and underground brine salt, the major type is modern lake salt such as Chai Damu basin modern salt lake. The main salt mineragenetic epoch is Mesozoic- Cainozoic Era.
