Magnesite Mining in China

China is the country that most abundant in magnesite. The total magnesite reserves are 3 billion tons which rank first in the world. The magnesite mineral feature in our country is the limited magnesite distribution and the reserves are related concentrated with many huge mineral deposits.

The proved reserves mineral fields’ amount is 27 that located in 9 provinces (areas). Liaoning is the country that most abundant in magnesite and occupied 85.6% of total reserves, Shandong, Xizang, Xinjiang,Gansu take second place. Within more than 20 mineral fields there are 10 mineral fields that occupied 94% reserves.

The mineral deposit genetic types are sedimentation metamorphism-pyrometasomatic which are of most important such as the magnesite mineral fileds of Liaoning Haicheng, Yingkou, Shandong Yexian,etc. Sedimentation, hydrothermal vein and basic-ultrabasic stone types are of no important. Most magnesite mineragenetic epoch of China is Pre-sinian period and Sinian period, few mineral fields mineragenetic epoch is Paleozoic Era, Mesozoic Era and Cainozoic Era.
