In November 2006, an agreement was signed by CNNC to proceed with the first two units of the Rushan nuclear plant at Hongshiding near Weihai in Shandong province, costing $ 3.2 billion, with construction to begin in 2009 and first power in 2015. Six units totaling 6000-8000 MWe are envisaged at the site.
