Chinese shares close lower Thursday

Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07 percent, at 3,588.78 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.81 percent lower at 15,038.88 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.02 trillion yuan (about 157.63 billion U.S. dollars), up from 942.5 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to traditional Chinese medicine industry led the gains, while those in the semiconductor industry saw losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.63 percent to close at 3,455.36 points Thursday.
