Tokyo stocks lower in morning on concerns over U.S. economic recovery

Tokyo stocks lost ground Thursday morning as the market mood was soured by rising concerns over the U.S. economy's recovery.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 161.75 points, or 0.70 percent, from Wednesday to 22,948.86.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 8.06 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,605.67.

Real estate, electric appliance, and metal product issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
