THE East China Fair is set to draw about 10 percent more buyers this year amid signs of a recovery in Shanghai’s foreign trade, fair organizers said yesterday.
By Wednesday, 4,691 professional visitors had registered for the event, up 9.8 percent from last year, organizers said in a statement.
You Yongsheng, director of the foreign trade development department under the Shanghai Commission of Commerce, said the number of overall buyers is set to rise sharply from last year as foreign trade has stabilized.
The combined value of Shanghai’s imports and exports rose 18.7 percent year on year in January to 260.5 billion yuan (US$38 billion), reversing a 6.8 percent fall in January last year, the Shanghai Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.
The fair will be held between March 1 and 5 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
