China's monthly road logistics price index rises

China's road logistics price index in July went up from a year ago, industry data showed.

The index came in at 100 in July, rising 1.5 percent year on year but edging down 0.11 percent on a monthly basis, according to a survey jointly conducted by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the Guangdong Lin'an Logistics Group.

The demand for road logistics cooled down last month due to factors such as extreme weather and a low season for production, the survey said, noting that the monthly price index contraction was a result of short-term seasonal market adjustments.

Looking forward, the growth rate of the price index may further moderate due to the combined impact of bad weather and the resurgence of COVID-19, according to the survey.

China's road logistics price index is based on the average price in the last week of December 2012, with the monthly index starting point at 100.
