China's power generation grows 4.3 pct in May

China's major power plants generated 593.2 billion kilowatt-hours of power in May, up 4.3 percent year on year, official data showed.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the growth rate is 4 percentage points higher than that of April.

Thermal power production grew 9 percent year on year in May, while power generated by nuclear plants and wind farms grew 14.3 percent and 5.2 percent, respectively, the NBS said.

During the January to May period, China's major power plants generated 2.73 trillion kilowatt-hours of power, down 3.1 percent over the same period last year.
