Argentine peso hits new lows despite central bank's efforts

The Argentine peso hit new lows on Tuesday, weakening to about 32 per U.S. dollar, according to the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA).

The BCRA auctioned 200 million dollars of its reserves, but could not stabilize the currency.

It was the second consecutive day the monetary authority intervened in the market. On Monday, it sold 210 million dollars.
The total amount traded on Tuesday was nearly 800 million dollars, according to financial analysts.
