Inflation rises to 9.74 pct in Uruguay

Inflation in Uruguay reached 9.74 percent in the 12 months ending in October, up from 8.34 percent a year earlier, the National Statistics Institute (INE) said Thursday.
In October, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.58 percent, up from 0.75 percent a year ago, and had an accumulated increase of 9.31 percent in the first 10 months of this year, up from 8.36 percent in the same period of 2019, the INE said.
The government expects inflation to register below 6 percent in 2022 and reach 3.7 percent by the end of 2024, according to projections in the National Budget (2020-2025).
