Singapore's manufacturing output grows 13.7 pct on year in August

Singapore Economic Development Board announced on Friday that the country's manufacturing output rebounded 13.7 percent year on year in August, ending a three-month slump.
Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output grew 15.3 percent in August from a year ago.
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, Singapore's manufacturing output increased 13.9 percent in August. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output increased 4.8 percent.
As for the performance of different clusters, the electronics cluster's output surged 44.2 percent year on year in August, compared to a revised 0.1 percent decline in July. The cluster's growth was mainly attributed to the semiconductors segment which grew 56.9 percent in the month, supported by demand from cloud services, data centers and the 5G market.
The precision engineering cluster's output grew 9.4 percent year on year in August, while the transport engineering cluster's output decreased 36 percent, the biomedical manufacturing cluster's output grew 8.4 percent, the chemicals cluster's output grew 3.1 percent, and the general manufacturing cluster's output contracted 18.6 percent.
