Malaysia's producer price index for local production declined by 2.8 percent year on year in August, official data showed Wednesday.
Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the decrease in the overall index was attributed to the decline in mining, electricity and gas supply, as well as manufacturing.
On a monthly basis, the producer price index rose 1 percent in August.
For the period of January to August, the producer price index fell 2.4 percent year on year.
