U.S. crude oil production decreases last week

U.S. crude oil production decreased during the week ending May 8, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Wednesday.

According to the EIA, U.S. crude oil production averaged 11.6 million barrels per day (b/d) last week, down by 300,000 b/d from previous week and down by 500,000 b/d this time last year.

U.S. oil prices fell on Wednesday. The West Texas Intermediate for June delivery slid 49 cents to settle at 25.29 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
