Shares end above 3,300 level

SHANGHAI shares ended higher yesterday, helped by strong gains in consumer and airline counters.

The Shanghai Composite Index ended 0.68 percent higher at 3,303.04 points.

Air China surged 9.63 percent to 11.27 yuan (US$1.70) and China Southern Airlines rose 6.98 percent to 11.19 yuan.

Consumer shares such as Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co up 3.76 percent to 31.7 yuan and Qingdao Haier Co adding 4.79 percent.

Investors pushed up Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor Co by the daily limit of 10 percent while Shanghai Belling Corp rose 6.68 percent to 16.94 yuan.
