Bulgaria registered 2,100 cyber incidents in 2020, up 9 percent year-on-year, the country's State e-Government Agency said Wednesday in a statement.
A total of 47 percent of the incidents were fraud or phishing, 38 percent were malware attacks, 6 percent were denial of services, and 4 percent were intrusion attempts, the statement said.
"The cyber attacks in 2020 were aimed primarily at health authorities," it said, adding the number of phishing related to information about COVID-19 increased from April to June last year.
Financial institutions were also affected, mainly by ransom distributed denial-of-service attacks, it said.
There has also been an increase in exploited vulnerabilities in software for organizing and conducting online meetings and trainings, as well as in remote access software, it added.
