Colombia's unemployment rises to 20.2 pct amid COVID-19 pandemic

Colombia's unemployment rate rose to 20.2 percent in July due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Administrative Department of Statistics said on Monday.

"In July, the country's unemployment rate was 20.2 percent, an increase of 9.5 percent compared to the same month last year (10.7 percent)," the agency said.

The country's occupancy rate was 45.1 percent in July, a decrease of 11.1 percent year-on-year, the agency added.

According to the agency, a total of 4,156,000 jobs were lost in July across the country.
