Xinjiang's electricity transmission volume up 22.4 pct in Jan.-Sept. period

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region transmitted a record high 93.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of locally generated electricity to other parts of the country in the first three quarters of 2021, up 22.4 percent year on year, according to the Xinjiang Electricity Trading Center.

The transmitted electricity can meet the electricity demand of 1.4 billion residents for one month, which is equivalent to burning 28.5 million tonnes of standard coal.

In order to ensure a stable power supply across the country, Xinjiang has further increased the scale of power transmission this year. Xinjiang added 46 cross-regional and inter-provincial power transactions especially in the third quarter, increasing the power supply in the eastern and central regions by 13.9 billion kWh.

Xinjiang is rich in energy resources, including wind and solar power. The electricity has been transmitted to 20 regions across the country.
