US$40b of deals inked at expo

                    Over 270.94 billion yuan (US$39.66 billion) worth of contracts were signed during the sixth China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
During the three-day expo which ended on Saturday, contracts were signed in chemical engineering, energy and environmental protection, culture and tourism, new material and others, said Haderbek Hamza, deputy head of the regional government of Xinjiang on Saturday.
A total of 51.94 billion yuan worth of contracts were signed with Fortune Global 500 companies, taking up 19.38 percent of the total.
Moreover, 25 major companies from Xinjiang signed 29 agreements worth 10.48 billion yuan with companies from 13 countries along the Belt and Road.
The previous expo saw US$18 billion worth of foreign trade contracts signed with Chinese companies.
Delegates from 35 countries and regions attended the expo.
