Taiwan's CPI climbs in October

Taiwan's Consumer Price Index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, grew by 2.58 percent year on year in October, according to data released by the island's statistics agency on Friday.

The figure was below a record high of 2.63 percent in September since February 2013, but above the 2 percent inflation warning line for the fifth month this year, said the agency.

The agency mainly attributed the rise to price increases in fuel, fruits, air tickets, vegetables, meat and household goods.

Among the seven groups of consumer products, transportation and communication charges climbed the most by 7.21 percent year on year.
