Malaysia's natural rubber production surged by 16.3 percent to 41,578 tonnes in June as compared with 35,761 tonnes in May, according to official data Monday.
The Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the production decreased by 17.9 percent when compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the exports of natural rubber fell 8.5 percent in June to 52,395 tonnes from the previous month.
China remains the main destination, accounting for 55.2 percent of total exports, followed by Germany (11.1 percent), Iran (9.6 percent), Turkey (2.3 percent) and the United States (1.8 percent).
Domestic consumption of natural rubber also fell 7.3 percent in June month-on-month to 40,830 tonnes, with the rubber glove industry accounting for 76.9 percent of the total consumption.
