THE Netherlands seeks closer clean technology collaboration with China, which provides great opportunities to develop the business, Dutch officials said over the weekend.
The European country has expertise in clean technologies such as converting fertilizers into electricity and recycling wasted heat because it is urgent that “we spur the development of renewables as a country heavily reliant on imported crude,” said Sigrid Bollwerk, manager at the Energy Research Center of the Netherlands.
Renewables now account for around 6 percent of the Netherlands’ energy consumption.
The Netherlands hopes the two countries can develop new technologies in oil and gas together to “help cut carbon emissions and lower energy costs,” Bollwerk said.
The Netherlands brought over 40 companies and organizations to the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair, which ended on Saturday.
