Malaysia's November inflation falls 1.7 pct year on year

Malaysia's inflation, as measured by consumer price index (CPI), declined 1.7 percent in November as compared to the same month of the preceding year, official data showed Wednesday.
Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the decrease in the overall index was attributed by the decline in transport (-11.1 percent); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-3.3 percent); clothing and footwear (-0.5 percent) and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.1 percent).
Nevertheless, food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, CPI for the period of January to November 2020 decreased 1.1 percent as compared to the same period last year.
On a monthly basis, CPI declined 0.2 percent as compared to October 2020.
