US-BASED connector and sensor producer TE Connectivity’s facility in Suzhou will help the company deepen its participation in China’s smart manufacturing market.
The company invested US$30 million in the plant, which opened yesterday. The plant produces connectors used in electric cars, machine tools, high-speed railways and smart buildings.
TE will also conduct research and development at the facility in the future, which “helps develop innovations customized for China,” said Larry Ho, general manager for China at TE’s industrial section.
The company generated US$2.2 billion sales in China last year, accounting for 18 percent of its global sales, Ho said.
