Foreign tourists visiting S.Korea rise 31 pct in October

Foreign tourists visiting South Korea jumped in October as Chinese and Japanese visitors traveled to the country during the autumn holiday period, tourism agency data showed Thursday.
The number of foreign travelers to South Korea gained 31.1 percent over the year to 1,527,832 in October, according to the Korea Tourism Organization.
The figures for Chinese and Japanese tourists surged 37.6 percent and 61.7 percent respectively.
Excluding China and Japan, the number of foreign tourists to the country advanced 20.4 percent in October from a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the number of South Korean tourists to foreign countries grew 5.2 percent over the year to 2,347,876 last month.
