German shares with small gains at start of trading on Thursday

German stocks were up slightly at the start of trading on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index increasing 16.43 points, or 0.12 percent, opening at 13,206.58 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was healthcare group Fresenius, increasing by 0.61 percent, followed by sportswear manufacturer Adidas with 0.35 percent and building materials company HeidelbergCement with 0.34 percent.

Shares of Delivery Hero fell by 1.87 percent. The German online food delivery company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday after announcing that revenues in the first half of the year increased by 93.7 percent year-on-year to almost 1.13 billion euros (1.34 billion U.S. dollars).

Turnover in Germany's non-financial business economy in Germany in July increased by 1.9 percent compared with the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Thursday. However, turnover was still 5.0 percent below pre-COVID-19 levels.

The yield on German ten-year bonds went down 0.032 percentage points to minus 0.442 percent, and the euro was trading at 1.1832 U.S. dollars, increasing slightly by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning.
