Malaysia's October natural rubber production rises 5.4 pct

Malaysia's natural rubber production increased by 5.4 percent to 48,663 tonnes in October, as compared to 46,187 tonnes in the previous month, official data showed Monday.
Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the October production rose 0.3 percent year-on-year.
Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber went up 11.8 percent month-on-month to 54,492 tonnes. China remained as the main destination, accounting for 58 percent of the total in October.
Rubber gloves, the main export item, saw the export value grow 15.8 percent to 4.4 billion ringgit (about 1.09 billion U.S. dollars) in October, up from 3.8 billion ringgit in September.
Meanwhile, the stocks of natural rubber rose 0.6 percent month on month to 256,724 tonnes in October.
The average price of Standard Malaysia Rubber 20 (SMR 20) recorded the highest in October, increasing to 621.76 sen per kilogram from 558.5 sen per kilogram in September. The average price of latex concentrate also rose to 576.14 sen per kilogram from 484.57 sen per kilogram in September.
