Amazon and Global Optimism announced on Wednesday that 13 new signatories have joined the Climate Pledge, a commitment to be net-zero carbon by 2040.
The 13 new signatories are Atos, Brooks, Canary Wharf Group, Coca-Cola European Partners, ERM, Groupe SEB France, Harbour Air, ITV, Microsoft, Neste, Rubicon, Unilever, and Vaude.
Signatories to the Climate Pledge agree to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions regularly and implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, the announcement said.
The Climate Pledge is a commitment co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism in September 2019, calling on signatories to take urgent action to meet the Paris Agreement pledge 10 years early. Global Optimism is an enterprise to catalyse transformative actions in the world in tackling the climate crisis.
"There are now 31 companies from around the world that have signed the Climate Pledge, and collectively we are sending an important signal to the market that there is significant and rapidly growing demand for technologies that can help us build a zero-carbon economy," said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO.
