Shanghai turnover at 3-year low

Shanghai stocks rebounded yesterday, but turnover shrank to a near three-year low.

The Shanghai Composite Index took a slight bump up of 0.37 percent to close at 2,594.09 points, with turnover dropping sharply to 85.4 billion yuan (US$12.37 billion) from 99.1 billion yuan on Monday.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index also bounced back by 0.79 percent to 7,685.4 points, and the CSI 300 index ended 0.48 percent higher at 3,159.82 points.

Stocks of 49 companies listed on the A-share markets posted gains by the maximum 10 percent.

Communications shares, especially stocks related to 5G, led the rise, with Dongguan Mentech Optical & Magnetic Co, Eastern Communication Co and Raisecom Technology Co all rising the daily limit of 10 percent.
