China is the hometown of tea, there have 8 species such as: green tea, black tea, and so on.In China,there have 20 provinces, 80 million farmers,are involved into this business,So,China is a veritable tea production power. Chinese tea and Chinese tea culture has been acceped by more and more consumers around the world. In 2006,the output of Chinese tea is more than one million tons,which is the highest one in the world;the export of Chinese tea is 287,000 tons,547 million U.S. dollars,both are the best records in the history.During January to August of 2007,the output of refined tea is 530,000 tons,rising 36.78% againest the number of the same period in 2006;and the total sales is 13.8 billion yuan,get 56.98% raise againest the number of the same periond in 2006,increasing much quickly. By the year 2010, the planting area of Chinese tea will be 1,600,000 hectares, the output will reach 1.35 million tons, production value will be more than 21 billion yuan. The sales of deep-processed tea products will be 35 billion yuan,and the relative business of Chinese tea will be 20 billion yuan,such as:tea bars,tea culture,and other business connecting with Chinese tea. There have many countries can plant tea in the world,but the output of several main countries on planting tea can provide more than 80% tea products of the world,which including:China, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Kenya, and Turkey. The world's annual tea production is around three million tons, of which about 80 percent are from Asia.

China is the origin of tea. It was in the South-West part of China that Chinese tea was first found.
South-Western China falls in the tropical and sub-tropical climate zone. It is covered by large areas of primeval forests. The warm and moist environment is the perfect cradle for tea trees. Huge, 2,700 years old wild tea trees and 800 years old planted tea trees can still be found there.
Chinese tea has been around for thousands of years. Chinese tea was first discovered and used as medicine. Then it evolved into a beverage, and further in to part of Chinese culture.
In the next stage, Chinese tea was cooked like a soup. Tea leaves were eaten along with the soup. Tea leaves were even mixed with food. Ancient Chinese books documented that tea was eaten and used with other spices to cook at this stage.
During the Qin, Han Dynasty (221 BC - 8 AD), simple processing of Chinese tea emerged. Tea leaves were pressed into ball shapes, dried and stored. When served, tea balls were crushed and mixed with green onion, ginger, etc., and then boiled in teapots. This is the point where Chinese tea turned from a medicine into a beverage.
