The nickel storage in China has increased greatly after finding a lot of nickel ore in Jinchuan and Xinjiang. There is more or less 100 producing areas and they mainly are: Hongqiling and Chibaisong of Jilin Province; Jinchuan of Gansu province; Kalatonsgke and Huangshan of Xinjiang Uygur Autonsomous Region; Lengshuijing and Yangping of Sichuan Province and Baimazhai and Mojiang of Yunnan Province. Nickel ore in Jinchuan of Gansu Province is the second biggest nickle ore in the world, but the total storage is only 7.84 million tons and takes the ninth place in the world. Annual output of nickel of our country in 2004 was 60 000 tons and quantity of consumption was 145 000 tons. Thus our country needs to import a lot of nickel.

Jinchuan Group Ltd has had an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of nickel, 120,000 tons of copper, 1,500 tons of cobalt, 2,000 kilograms of platinum group metals (PGMs) and 500,000 tons of sulfuric acid.
