China possesses identified resources of 8.6 Mt of molybdenum. Three of the six largest molybdenum mines in the world are located in China - Luanchuan in Hennan provinces with contained reserves of 1.3 Mt, Daheishan in Jilin Province (1.1 Mt) and Jinduicheng in Shanxi Province (970,000 t). Daheishan was established in the 1980s and even though it has abundant reserves it has been on the verge of bankruptcy for a number of reasons. It was reorganised in June 2002, and Jilin Nickel Daheishan Ltd was established,China is rich in molybdenum ore, the total storage of molybdenum metals in China was 8.336 million tons until the end of1999 and is in the se cond place in the world. Annual output of molybdenum metal of our country is close to 30000 tons and is also in the second place in the waorld. There are 222 producing areas of molybdenum ore and distribute in 28 provinces (regions and cities). The producing areas mainly include: Daheishan of Jilin Province; Yangjiazhangzi and Lanjiagou of Liaoning Province; Jinduicheng of Shanxi Province and Luanchuan of Henan Province and so on. Henan Province has the richest molybdenum ore resource, and the storage of molybdenum accounts for 30.1% of the total storage of our country.
