Rabbit meat output in 2006 was 636,000 tons, 11 times higher than 1985's 56,000 tons, accounting for 25% of total rabbit meat in the world.
Annual export of rabbit meat is over 10,000 tons, accounting for about 40% of international trade.
Per capita consumption of rabbit meat is 500g, a little higher than the world's average level.
Annual output of rabbit hair is about 10,000 tons, and export is about 5,000 tons, accounting for about 90% of international trade.
Annual output of rex rabbit fur are around million pieces, mainly export to Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea and other regions.
China Qingdao Kangda Food Co., Ltd., Shandong Haida Food Co., Ltd. and 13 other enterprises are qualified to export rabbit meat mainly to Europe, Japan. Yet, they have been keeping on exploring market in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
