Six symposia will be held at the Brazil Pavilion through the 2010 World Expo, focusing on topics such as information technology, urban regeneration, World Cup and climate change.

The theme for May will be "information technology, public participation and social inclusion;" "urban regeneration and the future of the World Cup cities" for June; "science and innovation, Brazilian creativity turning into technology" for July; "climate change and urban responsibilities" for August; "water and infrastructure for regional development" for September; and "Brazil, a country of renewable and clean energy for sustainable living" for October.

The 2,000-square-meter Brazil Pavilion will celebrate its national day on June 3 with several shows presented by Brazilian music stars.

Paulo Coelho, the author of one of the world's most popular novels, "The Alchemist," will give a recital as the ambassador of the pavilion.

Composed of thousands of pieces of wood, the pavilion is connected asymmetrically and painted green, symbolizing the abundance of forests in Brazil. It resembles the Bird's Nest, the Olympic stadium in Beijing.

Architect Fernando Brand?o based the design on one of the most famous works of the Campana brothers - the Favela Chair. This chair is one of the most famous by the brothers, among the world's top furniture designers.

The walls are concave, suggesting a pulsating movement, echoing the Brazil's theme at the Expo "Pulsing Cities: Feel the Life of Brazilian Cities." Inside, panels with pictures and videos will display urban scenes and the country's diversity.

Video screens will show images of cities, traditional festivals, football games, and the production of energy that keeps the urban areas moving, highlighting environmentally sustainable sources. Forty-five percent of the energy used in Brazil is generated from renewable sources, and 90 percent of its electricity is from renewable sources, mostly hydroelectric.
