The Statistic Communiqu of China Marine Economy 2009 issued by the State Oceanic Administration on March 2 indicated that in 2009, the gross production of ocean nationwide stood at RMB3.1964t, accounting for 9.53% of the GDP.

The Communiqu stated that based on the preliminary calculation, the gross production of ocean across China in 2009 amounted to RMB3.1964t, up 8.6% year-on-year.

Slightly lower than the national economic growth speed from the same period, of which the added value of the marine industry was RMB1.8742t and that of industries related to ocean RMB1.3222t.

The Communique showed that in the previous year, Chinese major marine industries generally maintained a steady growth, and such emerging oceanic industries as oceanic engineering construction industry.

Marine electricity industry, seawater utilization industry and marine biomedical industry developed rapidly, with added value seeing a rapid increase from the previous year.
