Shougang Group was established in 1919, which produced about 0.286 million tons in the 30 years before liberation. After liberation Shougang Group was rebuilt. In 1958, the first flank blown converter of China was built in Shougang, which symbol the Shougang Group not only can produce iron but also can produce steel. In 1964, the first 30 ton top blown converter of China was built, which open the new page of the history of Chinese Steel production. In 1978, it has already had a production capacity of 1.79 millions tons of steel and ranked one of the first ten steel mills in the whole country.
