The electricity in China and Asia is 220 volts. Sockets with adapters are available in the washrooms of many luxury and medium-grade hotels. Inexpensive converters and adapters are available in the United States and a traveler from there would be wise to bring one along. European appliances are also 220 volts and electrical devices bought in those countries work well in China.
