Macau is generally very open in its approach to admit tourists and short term business visitors. Passport holders of 65 countries are exempt from a visa to Macau for a certain period. Most nationalities are permitted to obtain a visa on arrival at the border control, usually permitting a stay of 30 days. If you want to visit for a longer period you can seek a visa in advance. The Macau Immigration Service website advises that outside China you should contact a consulate that issues visas for the mainland. However, it seems that not all consulates are providing this service and refer you to the main Immigration Office in Macau. Its contact information:

Visa Prices
From a pricing point of view, there are three types of tourist visa, but there is no difference between them once issued. These are the prices when applying in Macau.
• Individual - MOP$100, children under 12 years of age pay MOP$50.
• Family Passport - MOP$200
• Group - MOP$ 50 per person for genuine groups of 10 or more
(MOP$ is the abbreviation for the Macau currency, the Pataca. It is worth a little less than the HK dollar which is readily accepted in Macau on a ‘one for one’ basis.)

Business Visa
Generally, the same rules apply for a business visa as for tourist visas according to your nationality. How long you are permitted to stay is determined when you arrive at Immigration Control and declare that you intend to conduct business. The duration allowed is normally the same as applies to a normal tourist of your nationality.

Study Visa
The prospective student can apply for a student visa from the Immigration Office in Macau.
