Chiwan Port is a small port that suited at the east bank of the Pearl River Delta. It is the logistic base for the Nanhai Oil Field. Further container terminal development has been planned. Extensive bagging and warehousing facilities are available. With its continuous development in container handling facilities, it can act as a sub-distribution centre for the container business in Hong Kong.

A railway links the port to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen railway and the national rail network. Highways link up with the main Guangzhou-Shenzhen Highway and the Regional Highway System. Waterborne traffic has access to the port on the Pearl River Delta and all the coastal ports. Chiwan is 20nm from Hong Kong, 70nm from Guangzhou and 842nm from Shanghai.

Cargo throughput of the port reached 54.11 million tonnes in the first ten months this year, while container throughput amounted to 5,157,000 TEUs.
